A Lab like class for elucidating the meaning and effectiveness of score making in the dance practice. “Scores” can be thought of as friendly guidelines to follow during the improvisation. This practice allows for readability of the dance vocabulary, coupled with a sense of focus and intention which makes for fun and satisfying dance making. Learning these tool aids both individual movers, curious contact dancers and professional dance makers/choreographers. Working with “scores” is a clever way to create games and sophisticated play for dancers. We will dive into the score making process, emerging with new performance making ideas, and improvisational imagination
